It is quiet and doesn't pump so much volumn that your waterfall sounds like a river instead of a stream.If you need to pump water a long distance than you should move up to the larger mini jet pump.This pump is very quiet.If you hear vibration noise it is because of parts of the waterfall vibrating. This is a good work horse, my first one lasted non stop for over 2 years.
