(More customer reviews)So, a little background. I have six tanks at my house. Most are African Cichlids, so they need good clean water conditions. I have two Eheim ECCO 2236 canisters, which are excellent, but pricey. So I also got a pair of Marineland Penguin 200's. I'm not sold on the Bio-Wheel system, which I found to stop spinning pretty rapidly due to gunky buildup (perhaps because of the hard water conditions). They were also very noisy.

So I got a pair of AquaClear 50's and 110's (various sizes) for my other tanks. They do a fantastic job of clearing the water, making it sparkling clear, and moving the water around while being very quiet too.

All the AC's I've gotten have come with two intake tubes-- is this company policy, accidental, or is it deliberate to allow for a longer/deeper intake? I'm not sure.

The only issue I've found is that frequently snails will climb on the tubes and find the suction too strong to escape the intake... oops. At least these are the free, pest-like snails and not something I paid for. If I had shrimp or little fry in these tanks I'd tone the suction down quite a bit or cover the intakes with a sponge.

Excellent filters, very quiet. Will buy more. Because I really need more tanks in my house.
