We have the FISHMATE 14 day feeder which works well if proper air supply is given to prevent the food from absorbing moisture but we needed something for a longer period. I bought the Rena LG100. It was simple to set up, fairly easy to understand directions, and use 110V so no battery worry. It can be set up to feed various amounts of food by changing the orifice size in the drum the food comes from and the drum can rotate 1 or more times to vary the food amount given (we use flake) and it can feed 1 time or several times per day. I tested the the default mode if the power goes off and comes back on default is 1 turn of the food drum 2 times per day.
It has its own heat source that keeps the food warm so that moisture does not make the food stick together in which case it would not fall out of the drum orifice. The FISHMATE has a minor problem with this unless air supply given is correct but the RENA does it with heat and works well. We were gone for more than 30 day--all went well then went for another 2 weeks and again all well. We now leave this unit in place to take care of the daily feeding. The product works perfect. We are very happy with it!
