I recommend that anyone who has a bird should mount a light to their cage. Very easy to mount.The company is extremely easy to deal with and very knowledgeable about the needs of a Bird. Definitely would buy another light.

Product Description:
This is a great way to provide your birds with healthy, full-spectrum light. This patentedlight design will fit cages with a flat or arch top. No hardware needed, light simply snaps into place with eyelets. Eyelets can also be used for hanging toys, swings or whatever your bird enjoys. The shade is attached to the grill with 3 wingnuts which allows you to change the bulb easily. The bulb is housed within the shade and will sit 4" from the top of the cage. A FeatherBrite full-spectrum bulb (15w, 5500k, 91cri, UVA 4%, UVB .05%) is included with the light. This bulb provides full-spectrum light and minimal heat so the unit is only slightly warm to the touch. Durable non-toxic powder coat is used. A safety wire extender is attached to keep the electrical cord away from the cage. This feature helps prevent your pet from chewing the cord while they are in the cage.

I read that these bulbs stop producing a significant amount of UVB after about 6 months of use so it was time for a replacement. Once again I'm very satisfied with Amazon and in the fast shipping and competitive price. I have Amazon Prime and I received free shipping which made this the cheapest place online to buy this product. It works great and I definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for a new bulb for their pet enclosure.

I screwed it in and it appeared to work, but when I attempted to screw it back out I inadvertently applied a bit of pressure to the base of the tubes because I could not easily unscrew the base, and one of the tubes cracked. Entirely my fault, but the tiny bit of pressure that was applied would not have damaged similar fluorescents that I have used (i.e. bug lights), so I have subsequently gone to a sturdier, if not quite as "full spectrum" product.

(More customer reviews)This is the only brand of lamp I will use for my lizards. The only problem I have with them is that the clamp is very difficult to install. Other than that they are great. They are lightweight, and durable. Just don't drop the ceramic part! I am very pleased with my Flukers lamps!

(More customer reviews)I noticed that the ad lists the normal retail price of this item as being over $80.00. Not true. It is normally around $17-25.00. Besides, the 5.0 UVB bulb while being good for most tropical reptiles, is not sufficient for bearded dragons who require the 8.0 UVB or higher. They only last for 6 months at optimum UVB levels before needing replacement. It will still work, but won't be good for your pet after that time. It is a good bulb, not the best, but the best for the money. If you need a better bulb that lasts longer the megaSBray and other sodium mercury vapor bulbs have been recommended to me by breeders, etc. but I haven't bought one yet due to expense.
