Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)WELLNESS BULLSEYE 7.5 is perfect for special Ranchu eco/bio-habitat tanks as a Ranchu habitat require a 7.5PH; this is what I use for my Ranchus. My water is naturally a 6.2 to 6.8 ph, which is very stressful on my Ranchus (a rare breed of fancy goldfish).
When I first set up my Ranch habitat tank, I had all sorts of problems keeping the ph levels stabilized, due to our local water being so very soft. I tried several different brands and types of ph adjusters, from powders to tablets to liquids and all seemed to work at first, but within a few hours the ph levels would start dropping again, and just refused to stay above 7.0 and usually plummeted to 6.0 or less. At those low levels all my Ranchu would do was sit on the gravel at the bottom of the tank, and not move. A goldfish should never be keep in water less than 7.2 and even that's the low end of their tolerance scale.
Well, I now have a house full of every ph adjuster under the sun. And I ran into other problems with several of them. Some of the brands that did keep the ph level stable, were not safe for use in a bio-tank! My tank is set up to mimic the natural mountain streams where Ranchu are native to, complete with slow current, timer day/night-sun/moon light set up, shallow depth, deep graveled, and heavily planted with live plants. Well, most of the ph stabilizers on the market start killing off live plants shortly after you add the ph adjuster to the water! So, I had to find not only a ph adjuster that could maintain a 7.5 ph, but one that would also do it without killing off all my live plants as well!
Finally I tried Wellness Bullseye 7.5 and I've not had another problem since. It works almost instantly, buffering the water to 7.5 ph and than maintaining a 7.5 ph for weeks aftewads, AND it had no side effects on my live plants either! FINALLY! I had found something that works!
On my first use of it, I added 5 teaspoons of it to the tank, an 2 hours later, my Ranchus took to laying eggs all over the tank. With each weekly 50% water change, I add another 1 teaspoon of Bullseye 7.5 and the water maintains a 7.5 ph and my Ranchus have been happily active ever since and my plants stay lush and green too. Now it's all I use for my Ranchu bio-tank.

Product Description:
A complete test kit for testing tap and aquarium water. Tests six different potentially dangerous water conditions. Includes Freshwater pH, High Range pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate. Kit features computer-analyzed laminated color cards, instruction booklet, 4 test tubes, a holding tray and test tube rack.Freshwater pH Test Instructions:Why Test pH?pH is the measure of acidity of water. A pH reading of 7.0 is neutral. A pH higher than 7.0 is alkaline, and a pH lower than 7.0 is acidic. Maintaining the aquarium at the proper pH ensures optimal water quality.Testing Tips:This test kit measures pH from 6.0 to 7.6. Certain freshwater fish thrive at a pH above 7.5. Live-bearers, goldfish and African cichlids prefer a pH of 7.5. When keeping fish in this pH range, use Aquarium Pharmaceuticals High Range pH Test Kit.Directions for Testing pH:Read thoroughly before testing. Do not allow Test Solutions to get into aquarium. To remove childproof safety cap: With one hand, push red tab left with thumb while unscrewing cap with free hand.Fill a clean test tube with 5 ml of water to be tested (to the line on the tube). Add three drops of Indicator Solution, holding dropper bottle upside down in a completely vertical position to assure uniformity of drops. Cap the test tube and invert tube several times to mix solution. Do not hold finger over open end of tube, as this may affect the test results. Determine the pH reading by matching the color of the solution against those on the pH Color Chart. The tube should be viewed against the white area beside the color chart. Color comparisons are best made in a well-lit area. The closest match indicates the pH of the water sample. Rinse the test tube with clean water after each use. Recommended pH Levels:A pH of 7.0 is ideal when keeping a community aquarium containing a variety of tropical fish. Goldfish should be kept in their own aquarium and prefer a pH of 7.5. Many Amazonian fish, like angelfish and neon tetras, prefer a pH

Product Description:
Tests tap water and freshwater aquariums for general hardness (GH) and carbonate hardness (KH). Helps detect stress on fish caused by rapid pH shifts, which result from low KH levels and helps aquarists duplicate the natural habitat of their fish.KH & GH Test Instructions:What is Carbonate Hardness (KH)?Carbonate hardness (also known as alkalinity) is the measure of carbonate (CO32-) and bicarbonate (HCO3-) ion concentrations dissolved in water. These minerals are present in municipal, well, and bottled spring water. The level of carbonate hardness in tap and bottled water depends on the source of the water and the treatment processes it has undergone. Carbonate hardness helps stabilize pH in the aquarium. An aquarium with a low KH level (50 ppm or less) will tend to be acidic. Aquariums with very low KH are subject to rapid pH shifts, if not monitored carefully. Water with a high KH level (= 200 ppm) usually has a high pH. The Aquarium Pharmaceuticals KH (Carbonate Hardness) Test measures KH in German degrees (°dKH). To convert °dKH to parts per million (ppm), multiply °dKH x 17.9.Directions for Testing Carbonate Hardness (KH):Read thoroughly before testing. Do not allow Test Solutions to get into aquarium. To remove childproof safety cap: With one hand, push red tab left with thumb while unscrewing cap with free hand.Rinse a clean test tube with water to be tested. Fill the test tube with 5 ml of aquarium water (to the line on the test tube). Add Carbonate Hardness Test Solution, one drop at a time, holding dropper bottle upside down in a completely vertical position to assure uniformity of drops. After first drop is added, solution will turn blue. If the water sample contains only 1°dKH, the solution will turn from clear to its yellow endpoint after the first drop is added. Cap the test tube and invert several times after each drop. Keep count of

Tuesday, June 14, 2011 Quick Dip Aquarium Multi-Test Kit - 25 Strips Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I use this primarily for my reef nano aquarium.
pretty easy, convenient, and quick to perform tests.no test tube or droppers needed!
I have another test kit that tests other factors, and it is annoying to count the drops, shake, and check the color. This one tester is easier and more convenient to use.Only 4 factors on this tests is pertinent to a reef tank: nitrate, nitrite, ph, hardness/kh.However, I can test all 4 in the same time that it would take for me to count drops for a single test.
After a while, I got used to the husbandry needs of the tank.I can typically tell by the water quality by looking at the corals.
Once in a while I like to test the water to make sure, but typically, everything is in good shape. For these times, I also take a single test and cut it up into 2-3 smaller strips to use less. These seems to work fine, however, it is noteworthy to know that less water is probably being sampled, and it may be a not be an accurate measurement. So far, I have not noticed any problems.
Some of the colors are difficult to distinguish, so if anyone has any problems with matching shades of color, this can be difficult. At least when you count the drops, you can get a more accurate measurement (however, in some of the drop test, you still have to compare different shades of colors).
On of the difficult color readings in this tester is the ph, I have difficulty in distinguishing the readings. However, with a small nano tank and the amount of water I change every week, the kh level is normal which makes me less concerned on which of the 2 shades that my ph is in.
