(More customer reviews)Eheim has always been recognized as a quality manufacturer of aquarium and pond filtering systems and this is another example how well they are designed. This replacement impeller replaced one that operated for 18 yrs straight (except for cleaning of course). The canister filter continues to run flawlessly with this new part. Amazing! Hawaiian Marine Imports provided great service as well.

(More customer reviews)I've used several filtration units for my turtle tank and the Fluval Plus4 is definitely the best so far. The foam pads can be used (if cleaned regularly)for a little over two months and will with a little chemical aid keep the water smelling mostly like water. When supplemented by a water polishing(poly) or carbon pad, the maintenance level rises but the water clarity improves very much. Short of a long sand and gravel runoff and recirculating into a very big tank,nothing has kept my turtles' water as clean with bi-weekly or longer gaps between filter washing.(weekly rinsing is the recommended interval for maximum efficiency and pump life. But, who has the time?)
The filters will clog completely if ignored too long, but if your aquatic reptiles are IN your home, you probably already know that they will motivate you to clean the filter some time before the plus4 will clog completely. I cannot say that about any of the other brands of filter products I have used.

(More customer reviews)I purchased a "FilStar XP3 Canister Power Filter" 2007 and I love it so much I bought another one! I have had a chance to see what these "BIO-CHEM STARS" really do for aquarium water balance! The colonies of beneficial bacteria are so robust in these BCSTARs that I was able to get a new 29 gal tank setup (using the 2yr old Filter's dirty media) through the normal clear-cloudy-clear water balancing phase (without water treatments) in just 5 days (normally it takes me 2 weeks!)! At first I was not sure of what filter media products to use with it because it is so versatile and there were so many choices (so I bought a few each and experimented).The FilStar system really does provide filter media for whatever water conditions you will encounter in you area!

(More customer reviews)I've found these to be useful and a bit better then media bags in that the media stays in the individual slots so more water can flow through it.If you use this for carbon when you feel you need it and also use a reusable filter media rather than the throw away cartridges it save you some money as well.

(More customer reviews)I started using this product about a year ago after a fellow fish keeper recommended it. This product has helped me keep very small plecos I purchased. I used to have trouble keeping the smaller of these -1 1/2 to 2 inch size but not anymore! Also, even if the ph drops in a tank it's hard to tell by their (the fishes) behavior with chemi pure. Usually I'd have ammonia with a low ph but not so far with chemi pure. I would recommend it to anyone.
