(More customer reviews)We've had aquatic turtles for about a year now, that we keep in a 75 gallon aquarium. (soon moving to a 125gal. tank) Anybody that keeps turtles knows how much work can be involved in keeping their tank clear and clean. When we first started we were unsure of what we needed to do the job but we knew we needed something that could keep up with the demand turtles require in water filtration. Our inquires at the local pet supply store led us to use a Fluval canister system. This is also a great system but after a short time we came to realize that it just wasn't enough so we went out and got a Marineland Magnum 350 to compliment the Fluval. Between the two the tank was adequately filtered, but cleaning the Magnum was a pain, the Fluval was a little easier but still not as user friendly as the Eheim. Because filtration was just adequate we started feeding the turtles in a separate smaller tank to try and minimize food and turtle feces from the main tank. This helped quite alot but we still required yet another filtration system as we had moved the Fluval to the smaller tank. This is when we purchased the Eheim 2236 system. This filter in my opinion is much easier to maintain than he Magnum and Fluval systems. The only down side is priming the pump after cleaning as the self priming feature does not work as well as the others but it is, by far, much much easier to disassemble and clean than the other two. Had the priming mechanism worked better I would have given this a 5/5. This is our second Eheim 2236. We had to replace the original because our child did not reestablish water flow after a cleaning, and the pump head overheated and died.

(More customer reviews)Ive heard that these U-tube type overflows don't flow as well as the cpr weir types, but to be honest 900 gph is 900 gph.This thing works wonderfully, it is well constructed out of thick acrylic and was an easy install.Ive been using it for 2 months straight now and have not had to re prime the u tubes at all. excelent system.

(More customer reviews)I have owned this filter for a couple years now and it works brilliantly, it always quickly gets the water crystal clear after I have muddied up the water from cleaning the aquarium, it is very easy to use and clean except for the biological media bouncing all over the place like bacteria infused Kix cereal and the priming feature is brilliant. Also this thing is in the open in my bedroom and I can't hear a thing as long as I put a pad under it so it doesn't vibrate against floor. The only complaint I have is the water pressure dropping over the years. When I first bought it, the ecco 2234 would put so much pressure into the tank it turned it into a river with the current, the fish used to go swim in the current like salmon. Unfortunately no amount of cleaning and scrubbing and replacing filters gets the pressure and water circulation back to what it was when I first bought it. I had purchased this for a tank that is half the size the filter is rated for so the filter does absolutely fine even with the weak pressure. I would recommend this filter, however make sure you buy one that is rated for a much larger tank.

The Perfect-a-Flow Undergravel Filter is a biological filtration system for fresh or saltwater aquariums. The filter circulates water through the gravel bed and oxygenates it for beneficial bacteria growth. The slots on the three filter plates have been designed to draw water evenly over the entire plate from front to back and left to right. The high tube connectors are molded into the filter plates to offer a secure grip onto the one-inch diameter lift tubes to keep the tubes from being knocked out by fish and preventing gravel from falling under the filter plate. There are twelve tubes holders and caps. The Perfect-A-Flo air stoneprovides aflow of fine bubbles. A 3/16 inch ridged tube connects to the air diffuser inside the uplift tube and will attach to airline tubing at the top of the uplift tube. When using an airpump and airstones use two uplift tubes per plate.The fish protector is molded right into each elbow to prevent fish from entering the uplift tubes.The Perfect-A-Flo Carbon Cartridge (not included) will fit into the fish protector.These cartridges contain top-quality activated carbon to remove harmful gases, odors, and unsightly discoloration.For powerhead attachment place the one-inch uplift tube on the outside tube holder. (More customer reviews)I own a 75 gallon saltwater fish only aquarium (undulated trigger, clown, porcupine puffer, hippo tang, naso tang, 4 different damsels, 6 hermit crabs (the fish are all small except the 2 tangs). Currently running the Fluval G6, Seaclone skimmer and 36 watt Coral Twist UV. I had a large wet/dry system previously but found it to be too loud and mechanical filtration inadequate. The G6 is completely quiet and mechanical filtration is excellent. I also find the electronics to be very useful it keeps me on par with maintenance and monitoring of water parameters. The best is when it comes to cleaning the filter and changing the charcoal it is simple and not messy at all. It is plumbed into my UV and runs great. It is very expensive but does an excellent job and most important I have not lost any fish and they visibly are growing and with vibrant color and very actiive. Excellent product.
